Seventeen weeks at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut — the longest OCS program in the military, which tells you something about what the Coast Guard expects from its officers. Maritime law enforcement, search and rescue, and vessel operations are in the curriculum because Coast Guard officers actually do those things on Day 1.
