Machinery Technician A-School

Sixteen weeks of learning to keep Coast Guard cutters and small boats running — diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and damage control. MK A-School produces the engineers who make sure the boat comes home, which matters a lot more when your "office" is operating in 20-foot seas. The mechanical skills transfer directly to civilian marine engineering and industrial maintenance. MKs are the reason the Coast Guard can operate in conditions that keep the Navy in port.
