The SAF Vocation Matrix
Every NSF asks the same question. What does this vocation actually get me 20 years later?Pick your PES grade, education and career direction — see ranked SAF / RSN / RSAF / SCDF vocations with civilian-value scoring and real transition paths.
Vocations are from publicly published SAF and MHA SCDF career pages. Civilian-value scoring is editorial — designed to surface roles whose skills transfer to the Singapore job market. You don't pick your vocation; SAF does. But knowing which roles map to which industries lets you ask better questions when you're given options at PES screening.

What this tool isn't
- It isn't a vocation picker. SAF assigns vocations based on PES screening, BMT performance, manpower needs and selected leadership streams. You can indicate preferences; you can't guarantee outcomes.
- It isn't an official MINDEF source. Use it to frame conversations at PES screening, at BMT, with your CO, and when applying to specialist / officer streams.
- Civilian value is a heuristic. A “low” civilian-value vocation can still be the right fit if you intend a uniformed-services career, or if you find purpose in the role itself.
