Annual BASOPS for U.S. Army Garrison Black Sea, Romania — established to support the enhanced NATO forward presence in Romania following Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine. The garrison supports rotational forces at Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base and coordinates U.S. Army activities along NATO's Black Sea flank. A relatively new and growing installation. Approximately 1,200 U.S. military personnel.
