Annual BASOPS for Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan — the primary forward-deployed Marine air station in the Pacific, home to Marine Aircraft Group 12, F-35B and F/A-18 squadrons, and carrier air wing elements. MCAS Iwakuni underwent a $3.7B modernization to host additional carrier air wing units relocated from NAS Atsugi. O&M supports approximately 12,000 U.S. military personnel and SOFA dependents.
