Annual BASOPS for Fort Wainwright, Alaska — home to the 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) and the Army's primary Arctic warfare training base. Located in Fairbanks, Fort Wainwright operates in some of the most extreme cold weather conditions of any U.S. installation, with temperatures regularly reaching -50°F. Arctic operations impose extraordinary costs on heating, vehicle maintenance, and soldier support. O&M supports approximately 12,000 personnel.
