Eglin AFB

Annual BASOPS for Eglin AFB, Florida — the largest Air Force base by land area (463,000 acres), encompassing the Air Armament Center, 96th Test Wing, and 7th Special Forces Group (Army). The base hosts the Air Force Armament Museum and conducts weapons testing for virtually all USAF air-to-air and air-to-surface munitions. BASOPS includes management of Eglin's restricted airspace (the largest single military airspace block in the contiguous U.S.), 480 miles of Gulf Coast beaches, and the Duke Field and Hurlburt Field sub-installations.

FY2025 MILCON for Eglin AFB — one of the highest MILCON years in the base's recent history. Projects include a new directed energy weapons test facility ($112M), F-35 simulator complex expansion ($78M), and Gulf Test Range infrastructure modernization ($68M). Directed energy weapons testing (high-energy lasers, microwave systems) is a strategic DoD priority driving significant capital investment at Eglin.
