Serves as a military instructor at Marine Corps schools and training commands. Develops and delivers instruction in military subjects, tactics, and professional education for Marines at all levels.
“You'll shape the next generation of Marine Corps leaders and specialists — delivering instruction that directly affects how Marines perform their jobs and lead their people. Marine Corps instructors at professional military education institutions develop curriculum, conduct research, and maintain the institutional knowledge that makes the Corps what it is. It's a career-enhancing assignment that builds communication and leadership skills with direct civilian application.”
Teaching is harder than it looks, and teaching Marines who are often skeptical of classroom instruction is a specific skill that requires both subject matter expertise and the ability to make military subjects relevant and engaging. You'll develop curriculum that has to meet Marine Corps standards while actually achieving learning outcomes — two things that are not always the same. The instructional skills you build are genuinely valuable: the civilian education market, corporate training functions, and consulting firms all value people who can develop curriculum and deliver instruction effectively. The subject matter expertise you maintain to teach it is the professional credibility that makes you effective. Instructor duty is often described as one of the best assignments in the Corps by the Marines who do it.
