Got out in Jan 2024. Still active clearance. Accepted a contractor position 3 weeks after terminal leave ended. The pay jump is real. If you have a clearance and are getting out, treat that clearance like the asset it is — keep your finances clean, don't let anything ding your adjudication, and start talking to defense contractors 6 months before ETS. You have leverage you don't know you have.
