Plans and executes information operations in support of Air Force and joint commanders. Coordinates psychological operations, military deception, and other information operations activities.
“You'll plan and execute information operations — psychological operations, military deception, electronic warfare integration — in support of Air Force and joint force commanders. Information operations is one of the most intellectually demanding specialties in the Air Force and the skills — strategic communication, influence analysis, deception planning — are applicable across government and the private sector.”
Information operations planning requires understanding adversary decision-making, US information capabilities, and the legal and policy framework that governs IO activities simultaneously. The work is intellectually demanding and the results are often difficult to measure. The career field works closely with PSYOP, EW, and MISO communities. Government information management and strategic communications positions recruit from this background. The classification level of most IO work means the most interesting career examples stay classified.
